Philo High School, the Muskingum Valley League and the Ohio High School Athletic Association agree that Sportsmanship is an important part of athletics. We also agree that Ethics and Integrity must be fostered at all levels of competition. These expectations of Sportsmanship, Ethics, and Integrity are common to all participants, administrators, coaches, fans and officials.
Therefore, member schools of the Muskingum Valley League pledge to:
A. Display a common Sportsmanship Placard;
B. Display a common Fan Code of Conduct Placard;
C. Stress Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity;
D. Respect member school suspensions upon request for both students/parents;
E. Provide security in all areas of play, pre and post contest;
F. Publicize this agreement; and
G. Educate the public that attendance is a privilege not a right and that any privilege can be revoked.
Good sportsmanship is an important part of all athletic events. Philo High School, along with the MVL and OHSAA strongly encourages all athletes, coaches and fans to practice only positive means of support before, during and after athletic contests. Through good sportsmanship we will make it a rewarding experience for all involved.
Fans Code of Conduct
Sportsmanship is Everyone’s Responsibility.
A. Fans are encouraged to:
1. Use only positive cheers;
2. Respect officials judgment at all times; and
3. Remain OFF of the playing surfaces before, during and after all contests.
B. Fans will not:
1. Use profane language;
2. Exhibit distracting behavior;
3. Throw any objects at any time;
4. Use derogatory signs;
5. Heckle, jeer or distract team members; or
6. Use mechanical noisemakers.
